Your van and driver will meet you at the Belize International Airport after departing customs you will meet your transfer person with your name on a sign. He will give you the welcome package and then will transfer you to your jungle lodge to begin your adventure. In the evening you will enjoy dinner at the lodge.
We will depart after breakfast to visit the Maya archaeological site of Xunantunich for a guided tour of the temple. We break for lunch in the quaint village of San Jose Succotz, enjoying the local flavors of the region. Stroll along the gift shops or riverbank before preparing for your next adventure. Meet your guide and kayaks at the riverbank for the trip downriver. Gentle currents and wide open stretches wind along the jungle lined river where magnificent plants, trees, birds and iguanas call home. Your driver will meet you at the end of the river trip for the ride back to the lodge. Relax and unwind at the lodge before dinner.
Whether you were born in the saddle or have never ridden a horse before, Green Acres Ranch has just the right horse for you. Ride across the river and into the cocoa plantation as well as through the unexcavated Xibun archaeological reserve. Dismount at the cocoa plant for a brief introduction on the cultivation of the cocoa, referred to by the Mayas as the “Food of the Gods”. Taste the cocoa fruit and take home a bit of Belizean cocoa chocolate as a souvenir. Return to the Ranch for a farm fresh homemade grilled lunch. After relaxing in a hammock enjoying the beautiful scenery head off to the Inland Blue Hole National Park for a refreshing swim in the limestone cenote. Return to your jungle lodge to relax before dinner.
After an exciting drive, you will trek for 45 minutes on a path through dense Jungle in the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and wade across three rivers. At the entrance of the cave you will be outfitted in the necessary equipment preparing you for the caving adventure ahead. Some swimming will be required and also climbing and caving activity. This is a first class caving and archaeological experience. ATM or "Cave of the Stone Sepulcher" is one of the most impressive caves in the Maya lowland. Located in the heart of the Belizean rainforest, this cave was a sacred place to the Maya of Belize. The cave system consists of a series of chambers, ending in a large cathedral where sacrificial ceremonies once took place. Here lay those individuals sacrificed to the gods of the underworld.
Visitors to this cave have the opportunity to travel into the Maya past and witness a living museum where the human sacrifices and artifacts can be viewed in their original context. A packed picnic lunch is included on the tour. Dinner is available at the lodge after you return.
After breakfast, its time to pack your bags, lose the jeans and the hiking boots, and grab the swimsuits and flip flops and get ready for island style! Enjoy an optional, extra cost, Cave Tube tour before departing. Opt for the jump start entry or ease into your tube. At the end of your cave tubing journey through this astounding cave system, you will float out into the open, under the canopy of the majestically tall trees lining the riverbanks, until you end up right back where you started walking which makes for an easy and totally enjoyable circuit. Once in Belize City, you will be transferred to the Municipal Airstrip for a 15 minute Cessna flight to the island of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye in time for lunch. Settle in at your beachside resort or stroll around town. Catch an island sunset while sipping your favorite cocktail and munching on fresh seafood!
After coffee and breakfast, it’s time for you to explore the Barrier Reef. In the safe and skilled company of your guide, observe the underwater delights of fish, hard and soft coral and other marine life. Return to the island, just a short 15min boat drive away in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon soaking in the sun, strolling the town or just laying in a hammock! Dine at the restaurant of your choice.
After breakfast, explore a new site on the Barrier Reef on this morning returning in time for lunch at your resort. Just before sundown, embark on a sailing cruise along the Barrier Reef for total enjoyment.
Your Belize adventure is at an end – but with memories to last. After breakfast, pack up and head over to your
