Day 1 | Bogotá

Colombia Archaeology and History

 

Arrival at El Dorado airport in Bogotá by intercontinental flight. Reception and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay.Meals: - / - / -

Day 2 | Bogotá - City Tour

Half day visit to the historic center known as La Candelaria.  Following is a visit to the Museo Botero that houses works donated by the artist Fernando Botero and others by Picasso, Renoir, Dalí, Matisse, Monet and Giacometti, to mention a few. Next, we’ll visit the Museo del Oro which features nearly 34.000 gold objects and 20.000 in stone, ceramic, textiles and precious stones of the Quimbaya, Calima, Tairona, Sinu, Muisca, Tolima, Tumaco and Magdalena cultures.  Free afternoon for individual activities (we recommend visiting the city’s various museums). Overnight stay.Meals: B / - / -

Day 3 | Bogotá - Neiva - Tatacoa Desert

 

Transfer to the airport and flight to Neiva. Arrival and reception. Visit to the Tatacoa desert or Valle de la Tristeza, as it was called in 1538 by the conqueror Jiménez de Quesada. During the tertiary period, the Tatacoa was a garden with thousands of flowers and trees, which little by little dried up and transformed into a desert. In fact, in the middle of this region eroded by the wind, it is frequent to come across petrified mollusks. A wonder for geologists and paleontologists. Transfer to San Agustín. Arrival and hotel check-in. Dinner and overnight stay.Meals: B / - / D

Day 4 | San Agustín

Morning visit to the San Agustín archaeological park, to the Mesitas A, B, C and D, Ceremonial del Lavapatos and to the Museo Arqueológico. Afternoon visit to the strait of the Magdalena river and a walk in the small center of San Agustín. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.Meals: B / - / D

Day 5 | San Agustín - San José de Isnos - San Agustín

Colombia Archaeology and History

 

All day visit to two other parks listed as UNESCO World Heritage: Alto de los Idolos and Alto de las Piedras. Following visit to the majestic landscape of the Colombian Massif and the spectacular Mortino waterfalls (180 meters) and Salto de Bardones (320 meters). Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.Meals: B / - / D

Day 6 | San Agustín - Neiva - Cartagena

Morning transfer to Neiva airport and departure by flight to Cartagena with changeover in the Bogotá airport. Arrival, transfer and hotel check-in.Meals: B / - / -

Day 7 | Cartagena City Tour

Simply Latin America - “Do Something Awesome Every Day”

 

Half day visit to the city’s colonial district, starting in Parque Bolívar, which is surrounded by large tress and four fountains with a statue of El Libertador in the center. Around the square, the Museo del Oro, which exhibits pre Hispanic objects, and the Palace of the Inquisition, recognizable from its baroque entrance door.  The visit continues to the Santo Domingo church and the cathedral to end in the Ramparts and the Museo de Las Fortificaciones. Free afternoon for individual activities. Overnight stay.Meals: B / - / -

Days 8 and 9 | Cartagena

Free day for individual activities. An excursion to the Archipiélago del Rosario is recommended. Overnight stay.Meals: B / - / -

Day 10 | Cartagena - Bogotá

Breakfast and transfer to the airport for flight to Bogotá.Meals: B / - / -
