Day 1 | Bogotá

Day 2 | Bogotá - City Tour

Half day visit to the historic center known as La Candelaria.  Following is a visit to the Museo Botero that houses works donated by the artist Fernando Botero and others by Picasso, Renoir, Dalí, Matisse, Monet and Giacometti, to mention a few. Next, we’ll visit the Museo del Oro which features nearly 34.000 gold objects and 20.000 in stone, ceramic, textiles and precious stones of the Quimbaya, Calima, Tairona, Sinu, Muisca, Tolima, Tumaco and Magdalena cultures.  Free afternoon for individual activities (we recommend visiting the city’s various museums). Day 3 | Bogotá - Zipaquirá - Villa de Leyva

Departure to the north towards Zipaquirá, home to Colombia’s famous flower cultures. Arrival after an hour and 15 minute trip. Visit to the impressive Salt Cathedral, a magnificent work of engineering.  Continuation to Villa de Leyva in the afternoon.  Villa de Leyva, one of the area’s most beautiful colonial towns.  In colonial times, it had a very important role as the viceroy and his entourage spent much time there. Today, the city is a colonial jewel with the 14.000 m2 Plaza Mayor surrounded by Spanish style houses, small alleys, cobblestone streets and the XVII century parochial church. Day 4 | Villa de Leyva - Bogotá - Cartagena

Free morning for a visit of town after breakfast at the hotel. Return to Bogotá with a break in the Convento Ecce Huomo. Founded in 1620, it was an important point of evangelization in a region populated by infidel Indian communities. Arrival at Aeropuerto El Dorado in Bogotá and departure with flight to Cartagena. Arrival, transfer and check-in in the hotel. Overnight stay.Meals: B / - / -

Day 5 | Cartagena - City Tour

 

Half day visit to the city’s colonial district, starting in Parque Bolívar, which is surrounded by large tress and four fountains with a statue of El Libertador in the center. Around the square, the Museo del Oro, which exhibits archaeological objects of the pre Hispanic culture and the Palace of the Inquisition, recognizable from its baroque entrance door. The meetings of the tribunal took place in the palace, and it housed the prison and torture chambers for the alleged opponents of the Catholic church. The visit continues to the Santo Domingo church and the cathedral to end in the Ramparts and the Museo de Las Fortificaciones. Free afternoon for individual activities. Days 6 and 7 | Cartagena

Free day for individual activities. An excursion to the Archipiélago del Rosario is recommended. Overnight stay.Meals: B / - / -

Day 8 | Cartagena - Bogotá

Breakfast and transfer to the airport for flight to Bogotá.Meals: B / - / -
