Costa Rica Highlights

Day 01 Arrival at San Jose, Costa Rica. Transfer to hotel in San Jose.

A few days in San José, home to over one third of all Ticos, will give you an insight into the true character of the nation. The city's markets are colorful and vibrant, and its nightlife is as sophisticated (or as debauched) as you want it to be.

Day 02 Free day in San José

San José is home to a number of galleries and museums, and there are a few neighborhoods in the city still radiating colonial style. The assault on the senses that is Chepe is perhaps your best opportunity for understanding the complexities of modern-day Costa Rica.

Day 03 Transfer to Tortuguero National Park. (superior package)

Early in the morning a bilingual guide will meet you at your hotel. Transfer to Mawamba Lodge in luxury minibus.

Mawamba Lodge is a beachfront lodge in Tortuguero National Park at the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, a navigable network of lakes and canals that cross the National Park. Activities include day excursions to Tortuguero National Park, visit to the town. Apart from the boat tours along the canals of the national park (or even beyond), you can walk along the pristine beach, or visit the simple Tortuguero village and the Caribbean Conservation Corporation’s visitor center and turtle museum.

Day 04 Tortuguero NP. Mawamba Lodge. (superior package)

Opportunity to explore the Tortuguero National Park area. Hiking and boat trips are included.

On turtle nesting season (July to October), there is an optional tour at night available upon request at the hotel (Not included).

Day 05 Selfdrive to Sarapiquí. Overnight at Centro Neotropico Sarapiqui’s

Day 06  Seldrive to Arenal Volcano. Hotel Royal Corin (std room)

Nothing short of “awesome” is the only way to describe the feeling one has when seeing Arenal Volcano for the first time. Moving through the valleys of the agriculturally rich Northern Zone up through San Carlos and into the towering rain forest, this is one of the most inviting regions in Costa Rica.

Day 07 Arenal Volcano. Hotel Royal Cori (std)

You´ll have a free day to enjoy Arenal and the surrounding area.

Day 08  Selfdrive to Rincon de la Vieja. Borinquen Hotel(bungalow)

The climate in this national park is so diverse that areas with a severe dry season lasting 4 or 5 months are immediately followed by others, near the summit or on the Caribbean side, where there is constant rainfall, which gives rise to a forest mass rich in epiphytes. The differences in altitude and climate play an important role in the distribution of the flora and fauna. Resident species include the resplendent quetzal, three-wattles bellbirds, morpho butterflies, tapir, coatimundis and three kinds of monkeys.

Day 09  Free day in Rincón de la Vieja. Hotel Borinquen (bungalow)

Day 10  Selfdrive to Monteverde. Hotel Fonda Vela (deluxe)

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Monteverde. Check-in in your hotel. This is probably the most recognized ecotourism destination in Costa Rica. If you start early, you will arrive in Monteverde around noon.

The Hotel Fonda Vela is located in beautiful Monteverde, famous for its rare and gorgeous cloud forest and friendly community.  The refreshing climate and peacefulness of the Hotel's forested property allows you to enjoy one of Costa Rica's most beautiful locations.

Day 11 Monteverde. Hotel Fonda Vela

You may want to get up early to visit the cloud forest. The forest is quite different from the lowland rainforests. The name comes from the observation that the forests are nearly always shrouded in clouds. These forests are situated at high altitude along the continental divide down the spine of Costa Rica. A tour through the misty wood is a magical experience.

Day 12 Selfdrive to Manuel Antonio. Hotel Parador (superior room)

Manuel Antonio, on the Pacific Coast with an estuary, mangroves, a lagoon, beautiful beaches and winding paths, all this on 638 hectares of land and 55.000 hectares of protected marine environment.

Day 13  Manuel Antonio NP.

Take a walk through the tropical forest and find mosses, ferns, flowers and epiphytes growing thickly on every tree. Throughout the park, you will find the famous wildlife Costa Rica is known for, monkeys, sloth's and lots of birds among others. A splendid combination of nature experience and beach fun!

Day 14  Manuel Antonio NP.

Your accommodations for the duration of your Manuel Antonio stay will be at the elegant Mediterranean-styled architecture and decor of Hotel El Parador, harmoniously combined with the trimmings of traditional Spanish government-sponsored inns called "paradors" and the sophisticated atmosphere of Central European "boutiques hotels."
