Canaima and Kavac Tour

DAY 1: Canaima-Canaima Camp-Sapito Falls-Rio Carrao-Ahonda

Canaima and Kavac Tour

 

After your welcome lunch, the excursion will begin! We will shove off from the sandy pink beaches of the Canaima Lagoon, to tour this enchanting area. From there, we will depart the canoe, and witness the natural beauty of Sapito Falls, allowing us to live the experience of walking behind a powerful curtain of water, just a few inches away from us. We will again shoveoff in the dugout canoes. While traveling up the Carrao River to the Sabana we will experience the exciting rapids of Mayupa. At Ahonda Island we will arrive at our main camp and welcome feast and then retire to a relaxing rest in our hammocks. (–, L, D)

DAY 2: Rio Carrao-Angel Falls-Ahonda

After an early breakfast we will travel two hours by boat on the Rio Carrao to our Angel Falls base at Raton Island. From this camp we will head to the base of Angel falls. On this one hour and fifteen minute trek the lush primary tropical forest with its greenery and diversity of plant life and the calls of its tropical animals and bird species. Arriving at the base of Angel Falls, we will have time to relax on the large rocks warmed by the sun, shoot some pictures of the raging waterfall, and take a dip in the pool created at its base. We will arrive around 5 p.m. at our base camp to relax, eat, and enjoy our second night in hammocks! (B, L, D)

DAY 3: Ahonda-Canaima Camp-Pozo de la Felicidad-Canaima-Kavak

You will take an exciting and daring flight through Devil’s Canyon to see at the world’s highest waterfall, Angel Falls. You will land on the isolate dirt strip at the Pemon Indian outpost of Kavak. From Kavak you’ll be lead on foot by a Native Pemon Indian across the rolling savannah. After passing idyllic waterfalls you will know that you are very close upon arrival at an immense wall that uninterruptedly drips crystal water drops from the tips of the wall’s ferns. As you advance, a narrow water and rock corridor with very high dark walls will be discovered. You can relax and eat a picnic in this paradisiacal setting. Afterwards you will head back to Canaima and transfer yourself to the Canaima Camp for your overnight stay. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: Canaima

In the morning you will have time to stroll the dirt streets and visit the local shops that sell handicrafts before your plane departs. The trip includes transfer with your luggage to the airport. (B,–,–)
